NY Salon Superstars Present Color Makeovers at Wella Studio

With so much star power in one room, it could have been a shear-powered slap-fest. But when 12 of New York’s top hair artists, including Mark Garrison, Eva Scrivo and Jason Backe, (plus two extremely talented stylists from Canada) came together to transform their models for a group of editors at the NYC Wella Studio, recently, it was all about harmony. Oh, and gorgeous color, of course.

As thousands of holiday party people gathered outside for the annual Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, a slightly smaller crowd convened inside the Wella Studio.  A group of editors and VIPs were on hand for a very special presentation to demonstrate the versatile capabilities of Wella Koleston Perfect

Josh Wood, Wella Global Creative Director, Color and UK-based salon owner kicked off the evening with a briefing on the new color formula, featuring Triluxiv technology.  That led into the results of the studio “challenge” session, in which a cut and color duo from eight salons were invited to let their imaginations run wild and bring one of the Koleston Perfect tonal “pillars” to life on a live model.  The creative talents, who actually drew inspiration from each others’ work, were:

Amanda Jenkins, stylist and Antonia Troiano, colorist—Arrojo Studio
Eva Scrivo, colorist and Scott Pere, stylist—Eva Scrivo Salon
Mark Garrison, stylist and Sam Ruvinov, colorist—Mark Garrison Salon
Rick Wellman, colorist and Richard Keogh, stylist--Patrick Melville
Laura Williams, colorist and Anessa Kivinski, stylist-- Woodley & Bunney
Jason Backe, colorist and Devin Toth, stylist-- Ted Gibson
Anthony Crosfield, stylist-- Mine: Style Source, Vancouver
Wendy Van Weert, colorist-- Coupe Bizzarre, Toronto

From Rich Naturals to Deep Browns to Special Blondes and Reds, these superstars created color designs that ranged from luxuriously rich and natural to dazzling special effect combinations.  Each offered the cut and color how-tos, along with detailed inspirational notes.

Noted P&G General Manager of Professional Care in North America Kevin Otero, “Around here, we say, ‘make your passion your profession,’ and these superheroes showed us how it’s done!”
