CND Goes for Gold with Olympics-Themed Nail Designs

Whether you support team USA, Canada, the U.K. or another country, everyone is getting into the spirit of the Olympics—Creative Nail Design included! To make this year’s games special, the folks at CND are offering complementary CND Shellac manis and pedis to the Olympians to keep their tips and toes in perfect shape—after all, a fit body needs a fit set of nails to match!

This year,
Olympians will have the option of 36 colors as well as two Olympic-themed designs bearing the iconic six rings. Want to learn how you can recreate those Olympic-themed designs? CND passed along their how-tos!

Olympic Spirit:
1. P.E.P. the natural nail (for details see CND’s Shellac Step-by-Steps).
2. Apply a thin layer of Shellac Base Coat and cure for 10 seconds in the CND UV Lamp.
3. Apply two thin layers of Shellac Cream Puff. Cure each layer for two minutes.
4. Dip the tip of a dry oval brush into
Additives Yellow and burnish it into the sticky Shellac on the
side of the nail, creating the desired background design. Repeat with red and blue.
5. Mix Additives with a small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol (to create a watercolor paste) on a mixing tray.
6. Dip the end of a piece of 1/8" rubber tubing into the Additives Blue paste and stamp a circle onto the nail. Perfect the circle by dipping a detail brush into the Additive paste to fill in the lines as needed. Lock for 10 seconds.
7. Clean the tubing with IPA, and repeat with the rest of the colors until you create the Olympic ring design. Cure for two minutes.
8. Apply a thin layer of Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.
9. Wipe with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to remove top film.

Olympic Gold
