2 How-Tos From @lisalovesbalayage

close formula

Kut Haus Salon in Claremont, Calif. is known for creating innovative looks (we’ve featured a few stylists from the salon on our Instagram!), so when we had the chance to spend two days there with Schwarzkopf Professional, it was a no-brainer—we packed our bags!

Mustafa Avci and Kim Vo

We hung out with Kim Vo (@mrkimvo), Lisa Hart-Walker (@lisalovesbalayage) and Mustafa Avci (@mustafaaavci) and got a close look at Schwarzkopf’s new FIBREPLEX system, the brand’s first bond-enforcing system that interlinks with hair fibers to enforce structural bonds without having to bump your formula.

We snagged some alone time with Kim and got his thoughts on FIBREPLEX, the business of blonding and how to make more money!

Now check out some of our fave formulas from the event!

Before

Copper to Smoky Silver by @lisalovesbalayage

Starting Level: The model was a natural Level 6 with existing Level 8 copper tones on the midlengths and ends and 2 inches of new growth.

Schwarzkopf Color Formulas
Formula A: Equal parts IGORA ROYAL 5.26 + 6.32 + 50g 10-volume developer + 5g FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula B: 30g BLONDME + 60g 30-volume developer + 6g FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula C: 1 part IGORA VARIO BLOND + 1.5 parts 15-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula D: IGORA ROYAL 5.26 + 6.0 + 10-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula E: IGORA ROYAL 7.16 + 10-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

How-To

1. Starting at the front hairline, work in four quadrants and apply Formula A as a root touch-up, fanning down 2 inches. Once applied evenly, go back and comb Formula A down another inch with a wide-tooth comb.

2. Start at the front of the head and use a diagonal back section to paint Formula B, fanning into the existing color without blending too much. Foil using a bookend technique, not leaving any hair out, in a global application, concentrating on the midlengths and ends.

3. Process for 30 minutes, then shampoo with FIBREFORCE Fortifying Shampoo and FIBREFORCE Fortifying Sealer.

4. Lisa’s client lifted to a Level 8 with warm and red undertones still present. Part the hair into four quadrants and working in a diagonal front foiling pattern, take skinny weaves, foiling around the head to further remove any warm tones.

4. Process for 30 minutes, then shampoo with FIBREFORCE Fortifying Shampoo and FIBREFORCE Fortifying Sealer.

5. Lisa continued the color process the next day, beginning by sectioning the hair into four quadrants and applying Formula D on damp hair using a standard root touch-up application. Use a wide-tooth comb to bring the color down to the midlengths, pulling down in teardrop sections to leave more blonde around the face.

6. Apply Formula E to the ends and use a scissor-finger blending technique to melt the two colors into each other.

7. Process for 30 minutes, then shampoo with FIBREFORCE Fortifying Shampoo and FIBREFORCE Fortifying Sealer.

Brassy To Beautiful by @lisalovesbalayage

Before

Starting Level: The model was a brassy Level 8, prelightened on midlengths and ends.

Schwarzkopf Color Formulas
Formula A: Equal parts IGORA ROYAL 4.63 + 6.63 + 10-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula B: Equal parts IGORA ROYAL 7.16 + 10-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

Formula C: One part IGORA ROYAL 8.11 + 1 part IGORA ROYAL 9.51 + 2 parts 10-volume developer + FIBREPLEX No. 1

How-To
1. Divide the hair into four quadrants. Working off of the client’s preferred side part, take horizontal sections and apply Formula A from the midlengths to ends only on the first few bottom sections.

2. Work up the head, painting Formula A closest to the root and then painting Formula B on the ends, using a scissor-finger blending technique.

3. When you approach the top of the head, use Formula C.

4. Process for 30 minutes, then shampoo with FIBREFORCE Fortifying Shampoo and FIBREFORCE Fortifying Sealer.
