Miss Universe 2017
How do you make sure your client looks amazing on live television, in front of millions of people, AND in a super humid climate? Just ask the styling team getting ready for the 65th annual Miss Universe Pageant. Thanks to Farouk Systems' Global Artist and lead stylist Tammy Mixon, we have the inside look at what really goes on backstage and behind the chair at one of the most-watched events in the world. Check out the backstage looks below!
Tammy reveals this year's top trending hairstyles among contestants. “Those tuning into the live telecast will see this year’s contestants wearing more natural looks. This includes soft curls and waves,” shares Tammy. “For the evening gown segment, many are opting for simple or loosely textured updos. You will also see those with naturally textured hair showing it off.” The Philippines will be hosting this year's annual television event, so what does that mean for the stylists? Extra preparation! To prepare for the tropical climate, the styling team is finding the right products to protect contestants’ hair from humidity and maintain their styles for the entire day.
The Farouk Systems styling teams’ go-to products are the CHI Styling Creme Gel and CHI Silk Infusion for a lighter hold. They created loose, natural-looking waves and curls with the 1 ¼" Dura CHI Curling Iron, and set the looks with CHI Magnified Volume Spray. To add that extra touch of pageant sparkle, stylists finished with Miss Universe Spot Light Shine Spray.
