HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

Establish a 1-inch profile section to the front hairline through to the nape. Take a radial parting from the crown to the top of each ear.

  • 2

Start at the crown, comb the section perpendicular to the head, elevate to 90 degrees, and cut a guide to length, approximately 4 inches long.

  • 3

From the crown work toward the front hairline, comb perpendicular, elevate to 90 degrees, and cut to follow the head shape.

  • 4

From the crown work toward the nape, combing perpendicular. Elevate to 90 degrees, and cut to follow the head shape.

  • 5

Notice the change in hand position, the section is held from the bottom, and the fingers are pointed up.

  • 6

Take horizontal partings from the occipital to the top of each ear. Take a slight diagonal forward section, using the guide to length from the profile. Comb perpendicular, elevate to 90 degrees and cut to follow the guide.

  • 7

Take horizontal partings from the occipital to the top of each ear. Take a slight diagonal forward section, using the guide to length from the profile. Comb perpendicular, elevate to 90 degrees and cut to follow the guide.

  • 8

Continue with slight diagonal forward sections. Work by taking half of the previous section, and continue working with the same distribution and elevation.

  • 9

Repeat this technique on the opposite side. Notice the change in hand position, the hair is held from the top, and the fingers are pointed down.

  • 10

Cross-check by pulling equal amounts of hair from the same reference point, and measure to see if the lengths are balanced.

  • 11

Take pivoting sections from the crown. Comb perpendicular, elevate to 90 degrees and cut following the guideline.

  • 12

Repeat the technique on the opposite side. Notice the chance in hand position, the fingers are pointed up.

  • 13

Continue pivoting to the radial parting with the same distribution and elevation.

  • 14

Cross-check by pulling equal amounts of hair from the same reference point, and measure to see if the lengths are balanced.

  • 15

Take horizontal sections in front of the radial. Comb perpendicular, elevate to 90 degrees and cut from the profile out, following the head shape.

  • 16

Repeat the technique on the opposite side. Work from side to side with the same distribution and elevation to ensure balance.

  • 17

Continue all the way through to the front hairline, repeating the technique, maintaining the same distribution and elevation.

  • 18

Repeat the technique on the opposite side.

  • 19

Finish by using diagonal back section to cross-check.
