2 Prep the hair with a thermal spray and section the head into four to six parts, depending on the thickness of the hair.

3 Beginning with a side section, take 1/2-inch to 1-inch sections and place the remaining hair in an additional clip. Place the FHI Heat Stylus at the roots, on the underside of the section, and pull down in a slow, straight motion. Repeat the same step on the top side of the section for additional smoothing.

4 Continue until the entire bottom and side sections of the hair are complete.

5 At the crown take 1/2-inch to 1-inch sections. Begin at the root, on the underside of the section, and overdirect the Stylus forward through the hair, in a curve motion, then slightly bend the thermal brush down and inward. Continue this method to create lift at the crown.

6 Use a hand to guide the hair through the Stylus at the ends. Do not wrap your hand firmly around the thermal brush.
