Sea Shells Color Formula

Third time was the charm for Maria Santana of Snips Salon in Riverside, CA, who entered and won the PRAVANA “Show Us Your VIVIDS” competition. Her prize? The opportunity to create an exclusive look at a photo shoot at PRAVANA headquarters, mentored by the one and only PRAVANA Guest Artist, Danny Moon. Once at the studio, Maria melted together a palette of silver and light blue to create a custom sea-inspired, smoky turquois shade, which she then crafted into an intricately braided shell. Here’s how she did it!

    Shell Braid How-To
    1. Apply NEVO Hydra Pearls to clean, dry hair. Hydra Pearls add shine and smooth the hair without leaving it too slippery to retain braids.

    2. Pull all of the hair to the right and smooth over the shoulder.

    3. Separate the hair into 3 sections.

    4. Create a loose fishtail braid in each of the 3 sections. A fishtail braid is created by sectioning the hair into 2 sections, then taking a small piece of hair from the outside of one section and joining the piece into the other side.  Repeat this process from side-to-side all the way down to the ends and fasten with an elastic band.

    5. First loop the middle braid back, twisting in a spiral shape. Secure with a bobby pin beneath the furthest braid. This will be your lowest hanging braid.

    6. Take the furthest braid and twist into a spiral shape on top of the middle braid that is already secured into a curl. Secure with a bobby pin so it sits securely on top of the middle braid.

    7. Take the braid you want to showcase the most, or the front braid, and twist it into a big pin curl covering both the other two already secured braids. Secure with a bobby pin.

    8. Smooth through the front with NEVO Detail and set with NEVO Super Shape for hold without restriction.
