Section the hair in half again with more zig-zag lines, creating four quarters.
Apply the darkest tone to the top section of the hair, brushing the colour down the hair and securing with invisibobble.
Repeat on all four sections.

Apply a second invisibobble a few inches below. Taking a small section, push the two ties together gathering the hair.
On the remaining hair, apply a lighter colour.
Develop colour and rinse.
