Hello Everyone—

I have two daughters and each of the three of us has a style of dressing that is truly distinct. That’s what I love about fashion—regardless of whether you favor clean, athletic lines; classic chic; or a witty, vintage approach to your look, you can express yourself in your clothing, your hair and your make-up. This week, I discovered great versions of all of these looks, plus a lot more, when I stopped in at a number of the Spring 2010 shows at New York Fashion Week. For me, naturally, the best part was hanging out backstage with hairdresser friends like Antoinette Beenders and Eugene Souleiman and watching them work their hair magic. Best of all, I finally had the pleasure of meeting the great Odile Gilbert at the Badgley Mischka show. I have long admired Odile—she’s an incredibly successful artist in a field dominated by men and her work truly enhances the collection of every designer who’s lucky enough to have her backstage. We’ll be bringing you lots of tips and how-tos from Odile and the rest of the Fashion Week stylists in the weeks to come, and even though the hair was created for the spring collections, there are plenty of ideas that you’ll want to start developing for your clients right now.
