Dear Darcy: I keep hiring talented stylists but they don’t succeed—Puzzled Owner

Dear Puzzled: According to personal coach Janet Payne, talent isn't enough. To succeed, employees must also have passion and a work ethic. “Passion has to be communicated,” says Janet. “It's an energy we feel and see. But you have to give it away. Let others know how you feel. Great mentors take you on a ride, but they can't take you on a ride if they don't know your passion.” Discipline is also critical. As Thomas Edison said, “Opportunity disguises itself in overalls and looks like work.” Add talent to that passion and discipline and everybody wins!
