Barterers Beware
Many stylists enjoy bartering services, but, warns Isa
Moe, owner of Tao Blaze Salon in
Los Gatos, CA, be sure that your trade is
balanced. For example, a few week’s worth of five-minute
chiropractic adjustments at $50 a pop can add up to a lot
of free haircuts! An alternative in this case, says Moe, might
be to work out an arrangement with time as the currency instead
of service value. “Look at the big picture before you
barter,” she warns. “In some cases it’s
simply better to stick with the traditional method of fee
for service!”
