Cutting
Contrast
While you can’t really switch to high-def while cutting,
BTC member Sid Sottung of Sid Sottung
Hairdressing in England recommends this
technique for putting your work into sharp focus. “Look
at the color of the hair versus the color of your comb,”
Sid suggests. “They should always be the opposite.
So if the hair is dark, use a white or red comb while cutting.
If it’s blonde, cut with a black comb. This
is particularly helpful when performing a scissor-over-comb technique.”
Another tip: have dark and light cutting capes on
hand to provide high contrast when cutting long hair.
