Color Transitions
Right now colorists need to help clients choose options which can survive the test of time, declares BTC Color Education Director Beth Minardi. So selecting a base shade a bit closer to the client's natural tone is always helpful. Or, transition from an “all-over" shade to more impressionistic slashes of highlights and lowlights. “This kind of effect is modern, and only needs retouching every seven to ten weeks,” adds Beth. In the same vein, consider blending grey with demi-permanent formulas rather than completely covering it, for a shade-on-shade highlight effect. It looks modern and will grow out more naturally without a hard line of demarcation.
