Dear Darcy: I’m outta here! How do I tell my manager?—Buh-Bye
Dear Buh: It sounds as if you’re leaving your job on a negative note, which is not the right way to resign. Regardless of your reasons, always quit a job gracefully. It’s a courtesy to your co-workers and it ensures you won’t burn bridges with your employers. Give your notice, including your departure date, and a brief explanation, framed as positively as possible. (I love our clients, but I will have an opportunity to offer exciting new services at my next job.) Above all, don’t let your resignation affect your performance. You owe it to all to do your very best, right up until the last minute.
