| Relax and Color There’s no need to fear coloring relaxed hair, says Mizani Multi-Textured Expert Diane De Costa, as long as strands are healthy and not dry or over-processed. Consider relaxing these color clients to just 80 percent straightness, she suggests, which leaves more elasticity in the natural curl pattern and reduces stress from the double processes. Also, use demi-permanent color on relaxed clients, which lifts two to three levels with low ammonia. Apply color with a tint brush in fine sections to ensure coverage on coarser textures.
