When is Cleaning Wrong?

I have always been a neat stylist.Recently, I started working in a chain salon where my keeping busy with cleaning the salon has the manager and staff uncomfortable.Sad thing is, this is not the first time I have had this problem at work.
We are expected to just sit and wait til customers walk in, which could be over an hour at a time.I am not a sitter, I like to stay busy,and there is always some thing to clean-always!
Sometimes I feel like I am losing it, I just don't understand how this is a problem.Can someone offer a suggestion??
