stressed about dishonest customers
Posted: Tuesday, December 27, 2011 4:02:48 PM
We sold a 14k gold chi iron for christmas for 200. He calls today and says he wants a 100 dollar discount because it said it had been used 3 hours. We got it from our distributor with the royal deal. We plugged it in to make sure it worked for a few seconds and then put it back in the box. The hours said 0. I think it is buyers remorse. We offered to give him back his money but the iron is new and never used. He said he would talk to his wife. He said he would pay 75 for it. I sold it at my cost! We told him it is a 300 dollar iron! He said I know. He claims she did not open it till last night. They have lost the paperwork and claim there was none in there. We had double checked this before he picked it up. Why do people lie and cheat??? Just venting!

Ugh that sucks. Any way you could get him to do the return through the company? Or give a gift certificate refund instead of cash?

he paid with credit card

He paid with a credit card (which means fees for me). We told him to bring back the iron and we would put the money back on his card. (More fees for me). We have not heard from him since yesterday. I just want him to bring it back or shut up. The company will fix a broken iron or replace one but this one is brand new with nothing wrong with it. The chick used it 3 hours. I don't want to give him a gift certificate because I don't want him in my salon anymore. He is someone off the street that wanted to buy his wife a chi for christmas and she is probably mad at the price. I even ate the sales tax on this one.

I believe we get mad at ourselves in situations like this. You should have said to the man, "I'm sorry, we do not give refunds on salon tools, if you are unhappy with the iron, you may contact CHI,  thank you and have a nice day".
