Hi, I need some help with booking
Posted: Sunday, July 16, 2006 12:57:09 AM
Hello, I am getting very busy and would like suggestions about booking clients. Right now, I'm booking four highlights a day, including cutting and blowdrying them. I do about six haircuts a day in between too.

I have a shared assistant, though he can't help me with blowdrys because he works with other stylists. I'm looking to double the amount of people I service by the end of the year.

Does anyone work with a personal assistant? I was a personal assistant years ago, and the woman I helped booked about 20 clients a day, sometimes more than that.

I have spoken to other stylists, and will probably have to have the assistant's salary come out of my pay in order to have one exclusively.

I want to know if anyone has such a system set up, and what I need to watch out for before committing to this.

I learned a lot as a personal assistant, but burned out from it after about a year.

I have assistants in my shop and they can help make a stylist and the salon much more money. But be careful depending to much on an assistant when you are booking clients. If you book 20 clients a day, you better hope your assistant comes to work.

GD brings up good points.  To add to what she said, I would also say that make sure you show your assistants that they are valuable members of your team, and that it is there responsibility to show up and show up on time even more so than the stylists, and I would treat it the same way if they didn't show up as if one of your stylists did not.
